Tutti Festival with NOW Ensemble – February 11

Tutti Festival, Saturday, February 11 at 7:00pm
The Vail Series with NOW Ensemble
Swasey Chapel, Denison University

More information here.

I’ll be accompanying NOW Ensemble during their residency at Denison Univerisity’s TUTTI Festival from Feb. 8-11.  We’ll debut the new movements from Rounder Songs, “Three Forks of Hell” and “Pretty Polly” as well as visit classes to give workshops and lead discussions.

Following the festival we will head straight to Pittsburgh to record the entire work!  I’m so excited to bring this project to life thanks to the support of New Music USA, The Pittsburgh Foundation, The Heinz Endowments and all of you who are out there cheering us on!

Acoustic Music Works, June 3

Acoustic Music Works was one of my first stops when I moved to Pittsburgh a decade ago, and I’ve being going back ever since for repairs, advice and a couple of instrument upgrades.  Well, I finally upgraded to my guitar for life (thanks to a bunch of kind hearted friends and AMW), and you can hear me play this lovely little Collings in the very place I found her.

Layo Puentes and Colter Harper will join me on my set, and we’ll share the evening with Raymond Morin and Sam Moss.

Friday, June 3 at 8:00pm, $10-12 suggested donation. www.amwshows.com

Special Guest with Eddy Marcano in NYC, May 1

Caramba…

This is the title of one of my favorite Venezuelan songs by Otilio Galindez, that says…

It is a shame, love.
It would have been so beautiful
if you had loved me as much I loved you.
It is a shame, love.
Living through this sad winter,
listening to the rain tell me so many things as it falls.

The melody is mournful, but incredibly soothing.  Listen to Cecilia Todd in this recording, and just see if the song doesn’t draw your heart right out of you.

I’ll be singing “Caramba” with Eddy Marcano and his quintet next weekend in New York, and I’m feeling grateful for this and other happy surprises.
